Crafty Bottle Cap Jewelry
Get your craft on!

Custom Bottle Caps are not only great for your homemade beverages, but they make a great piece of craft jewelry.  Weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, or just for fun, there is no limit to the ways you can use GrogTag for your new hobby!

Bottle Cap Earrings

To craft a pair of custom Bottle Cap earrings, you will need the following items:

  • Two Bottle Caps
  • Two head pins
  • To ear wires
  • Several small beads
  • Jewelry pliers
  • Jewelry cutters
  • A metal hole punch (1/16″)

All of this stuff (save for the Bottle Caps) can be found at most craft hobby supply stores.

Procedure

Cut a hole in the bottle caps using the metal hole punch

Take one of the head pins and slip it through the hole in the bottle cap so that the pin part is on the inside of the cap. Put a slight bend right above the pin head so it doesn't slip through. Then slip your beads onto the other side of the head pin

Snip the head pin (if it is too long) with the cutters so there is just enough room to create a loop

Using the pliers, bend the head pin to create a loop

Attach one of the ear wires and then close the loop

Repeat all the steps for the second earring and then you have a quirky pair of bottle cap earrings! You don't have to stop there either, you could add another hole at the bottom of the bottle caps and add even more beads if you want.

Bottle Cap Necklace

A cool necklace made with a custom Bottle Cap is a funky way to show your creativity.

To craft a custom Bottle Cap Necklace, you will need the following items:

  • Custom Bottle Cap
  • Jump Rings
  • Metal Hole Punch
  • Jewelry pliers
  • Small beads
  • Necklace clasps/closers
  • A length of chain (you can also get a spool, if you are making several)

Procedure

Cut a hole in the bottle caps using the metal hole punch

Measure out how long you want the necklace to be (I chose 20") and using the pliers unhook the loop at the length you chose

Measure out how long you want the necklace to be (I chose 20") and using the pliers unhook the loop at the length you chose

Add a clasp at one end of the chain, and a jump ring at the other end

Unhook another jump ring and put a small bead through it

Then loop the jump ring onto both the center of the necklace chain and the hole in the bottle cap and close the ring. Now you have a quirky bottle cap necklace! Same as the earrings, you can add another hole (or three!) at the bottom of the bottle cap and add some more beads if you want
